Plaza Scene

Until the 1960s, this was the Taos County Courthouse. Today, however, the interior spaces are rented to various businesses. It became a point of local interest in 1969 because the old jail in the rear of it was used as a set where the Hopper, Fonda, Nicholson characters from the hit move Easy Rider were briefly incarcerated in the movie. At the time this picture was made, the Plaza was still a place frequented by local residents. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case.
